This morning I've been looking through photos of some of the various things that I made in 2011. These mosaics don't include them all, but they do show a pretty good amount of them.
When I look back at the photos that I took in those first few months of 2011 I can still feel that hopefulness for the year ahead radiating in them.

I was excited about the food I was learning to cook from the Food Revolution project and trying out some other recipes that doing all that cooking led me to.
It was also pretty wonderful to be given the opportunity to stay home and put some work into my business.
While I don't think I've lost that hopefulness that I started out with earlier in the year, I did end up shifting my priorities from developing my business to working on our home.
It became increasingly important to me that in order to make the kind of things that I wanted to make I needed to change our environment.
I wanted to put more love and effort into creating the kind of space that we would want to live in instead of putting all the energy into imagining the possibilities.
Though I did feel a lot of guilt for being at home and not contributing much financially, as I have always worked at some job or other, it was a treasure to have that time to develop ideas and really immerse myself creatively. I am so grateful to Trent for understanding and making that something possible for me to do.
I'm also grateful for the friends that the blog has led me to, the family it has connected me with, and for you who come by to read that I don't know as well.
I use this space mostly as a learning tool, to take better photos, to document what I make, and to try to write in a way that gets as close I can to what I mean to say.
It's always a work in progress but it has become something that I really enjoy working on and it has been so great to have your support.
I hope you have a very happy New Year's Eve and a wonderful 2012!
